Please join us for the next HR BioTech Connect Meeting. The presentation will be Building a Mission-Driven Organization at Merrimack.We aspire to cure cancer. We believe the key lies in achieving a deeper understanding of the complex and dynamic biology behind the disease. Our inspiration is the promise of turning new insights into life-saving medicines. We believe defeating the complexity of cancer requires more than the invention of new drugs, but the development of comprehensive solutions that take into account the burden that cancer places on patients and physicians.

We work as a community of researchers, clinicians, and professionals seeking to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. We operate in a multi-disciplinary, team based environment designed to support a culture of innovation on every dimension of research and care. Our culture thrives on the values of passion, learning, teamwork, and authenticity. Our people come from all over the world and have diverse backgrounds and experiences but share one mission; the promise of curing cancer.

Many companies in the life-science space have similar aspirations and during this session we’ll share with the group some lessons we’ve learned on how to build an organization that supports our mission. Specifically, we’ll focus on sharing lessons and practices in 4 key areas:

  • Our underlying philosophy on people and organizations
  • Our commitment to a flat, team-based structure (how we’ve eliminated the need for departments)
  • Our use of networks as a means to achieve our objectives
  • Our HR systems and processes (or lack thereof) that support this model
